MALAYEEN.SPACE is a gift exchange of song; constellations of lullabies, village lore, and battlecries transmitted to and from their origin. An interactive audio experience in itself, Malayeen.Space also creates a community-generated archive of our diasporic imagination.
This project is conceived and developed by Leyya Mona Tawil, in collaboration with Andrej Hrončo. It exists as part of Lime Rickey International’s Noise & Nation - an accumulation of transmissions in performance, sound, and digital form that attend to migration, temporality and a post-border dream.
Malayeen.Space was created during Tawil’s Net//Work Residency
Concept/Design - Leyya Mona Tawil [Lime Rickey International]
Code/Design - Andrej Hrončo
The Net//Work Exhibition will take place online on our Wysing Broadcasts site between 4 May and 7 June 2021. The exhibition will draw on the development of the artists’ digital research during the residency. From games to interactive audio and film, the exhibition will present these very different practices through the connections and reciprocity formed between the artists. For more information...
