Leyya Mona Tawil (@Leyyamona @LimeRickeyInternational) presents 'MALAYEEN.SPACE' in the Net//Work Exhibition, developed in collaboration with Andrej Hrončo. ( @andrejhronco )
Explore Leyya's interactive sound work at our Wysing Broadcasts site until 7 June. 'MALAYEEN.SPACE' is a gift exchange of song; constellations of lullabies, village lore, and battlecries transmitted to and from their origin. You are invited to sing into the stars. Your song will return, having traversed the modulations of time and place. Each exchange is uniquely yours. The audio transformations are governed by the distance (in km) between you and the location of your song’s origin, your distance in time to this place, and the song’s intent. An interactive experience in itself, 'Malayeen.Space' also creates a community-generated sound archive of our diasporic imagination. This project is conceived and developed by Leyya Mona Tawil, in collaboration with Andrej Hrončo. It exists as part of Lime Rickey International’s Noise & Nation - an accumulation of transmissions that attend to migration, temporality and a post-border dream. #CultureConnectsUs @Brit_VisualArts @BritishCouncilEgypt @EastAfricaArts @Das_Belfast @GoldenThread_Gallery @MomentumBerlin @SupSupSupWhat @LadyDangfua Image Description: White sans-serif text reads 'Net//Work', and is centred above a purple, geometric digital rendering.
